The Korean Seas : Tradition and History In consciousness of the ancient people who had insufficient skill in shipbuilding and sailing, the sea was admirable subject and unreachable world at once with the acknowledgement of mysterious circle of death and reincarnation, space for gods and goddess, and an ideal world. As the sea road opened with the development of technology civilization, the living territory has extended to beyond the sea. Due to the natural environment, it sometimes has some obstacles but it came to be a gateway of manpower and material resources. This exhibition showcases relevant stories, from the history of the Korean seas, the people who tried to play a leading part on seaborne trade in Northeast Asia and to the people in sea villages, who have developed another land, sea.
