As we celebrate ‘2017, the Year of Ulsan Folk Culture’ together with Ulsan Metropolitan City, National Folk Museum of Korea is holding a special exhibition titled, 《I'm an Ulsan person, too-Ulsan, a city of acceptance and tolerance》. This year marks the 20th year of Ulsan city’s promotion to a metropolitan city ; and therefore we would like to look into the identity of Ulsan as well as the direction of where modern cities need to be headed.

The city of Ulsan is often envisioned with chimneys at oil refineries, automobiles at shipping bays and large vessels at dockyards. Traditionally Ulsan was a farming and fishing village, but the influx of people, technology and culture has shapedthe city into what it looks like today.

The exhibition consists of three parts, “PartⅠ- Influx to Ulsan” (the influx of people, culture and technology), “PartⅡ- Spread from Ulsan” (the spread of Ulsan people, technology and culture), and “Part Ⅲ - Hand in hand with Ulsan”
(the harmonization of various kinds of Ulsan people).
